Superman Comes in Small Too!!!!

So yesterday Tristan had his very first dentist appointment, he sat the while Dr. Fontes cleaned his teeth, sat extremely still while he had x-rays done, and was very patient the whole time. What a trooper. We knew he had several cavities and my suspicions were confirmed that the enamel on his teeth was very weak and in some spots there was none, five teeth in all, and a little cavity on another. So he has to go back four times and have the cavities removed and stainless steel caps put on and have a small filling.

Today was our first bout of treatment and let me tell you this kid is absolutely AMAZING!!!! He sat there for the drilling, filling, and filing down of the tooth to make room for the cap, the whole time one hour. I sat and watched as the doctor gave him the shot to numb him up and he did not even blink, not even a flinch out of my little super hero. I thought for sure he would get upset for the drilling, not a peep, sat there the whole time mouth wide open. (Maybe it was because he was so interested in the Game Boy the assistant gave him to play with, even more, I think he would have been just fine without it). He did have a small break about half way through so the doctor could go check out another patient, but was more than ready to finish up when Dr. Fontes came back in the room. When he was all done he sat up, walked right over picked his prize and that was that. He knows he has to go back three more times, but now I am not so nervous. I know he will be wonderful.

It really makes a huge difference when you go to a pediatric dentist who specializes in taking care of kids. They know exactly how to talk to them and what to do to make the child comfortable while they get their work done.

So this one is for Tristan, my little superman. What a trooper you are to go through this and be such a tough guy.
